Paperman asks me to move it before updating
Paperman can only update itself from your Applications folder. If it’s running from somewhere else, it tells you what to move instead of starting an update that can’t finish. You might see this if:
- You opened it straight from the disk image (the
.dmgfile you downloaded). - You opened it without moving it first. macOS then runs it from a temporary, read-only copy, even though it looks like a normal app.
- It’s in a folder it isn’t allowed to change.
Fix it
- Quit Paperman.
- Drag Paperman into your Applications folder.
- If you used the disk image, eject the Paperman disk. You can delete the
.dmgfile afterwards. - Open Paperman from Applications, then go to Settings → About and click Check for updates.
You only need to do this once. From then on, updates install where they belong.
